news report
Tuesday March 08, 2011 11:03 by Andrew - WSM

Around 80 people took part in Sunday's annual Feminist Walking Tour to mark International Women's Day. The tour was organised by Choice Ireland, Lashback and RAG and for the first time was confined to the south side of the city, starting at Stephen's Green and ending up in Temple Bar. The audio from the individual stops on the tour is below.
Start of the tour Numbers were considerably down on this years tour in comparison with the previous two probably because it came so soon after the general election and a number of the organizers are very active in electoral parties. But 80 it still a good turn out and hopefully it will return to form next year. An unexpected lowlight of the tour was running into a couple of drunk Fine Gael TD's followed shortly after by a apparently sober Enda Kenny on his way from the Fail to the Shelbourne for the Fine Gael coalition talks. Unfortunately he had passed before we had recovered enough from the shock to say anything.
There were 8 stops including the starting point at the top of Grafton street but as some were short I've turned them into 5 audio segments. Unfortunately a technical error resulted in me missing most of the 5th stop at the National Art Gallery.
I'll be adding the audio to my radical map of Dublin, audio from the 2010 and 2009 tour is already there, see http://anarchism.pageabode.com/andrewnflood/map-feminis...audio
