Great News from Northern Ireland about the gentle hare

Sinn Fein's shameful attempt to overturn NI Coursing Ban rejected

Great to see that the NI Asembvly has rejected by 53 votes to 33 an attempt by Sinn Fein to overturn the ban on hare coursing in NI approved last June.

Since SF reversed its anti-blood sports policy at its last Ard Fheis and opted to condone these activities instead, it has become increasingly committed to the horrific cruelty of live hare coursing.

This, despite the fact that FOUR of its outgoing five TDs OPPOSE hare coursing and have repeatedly said it should be banned!

Bobby Sands penned some beautiful poetry extolling the wonders of the very wildlife heritage that SF now regards (by virtue of its official policy) with such contempt

Those of us who have campaigned for years to get protection for Irish Hare from this barbarism hope SF will revert to its previous position on blood sports at its next Ard Fheis.

Here is what's involved...the "sport" of hare coursing...

Many people in Sinn Fein are of course opposed to this cruel practice.

Those in favour of it, like Toireasa Ferris, are in constant conflict with a large segment of party opinion.

However, opposition to bloodsports needs support from outside. Contact your Sinn Fein representative and say you won't vote for them unless they change the policy.
