Attorney General Lord Hermer ? who was last week accused of likening ECHR-sceptics to Nazis ? seems to think 'Schmitt' is a polite way of saying 'Hitler'. He obviously has not read Schmitt, says Professor James Alexander.

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3Thats total bullshit what theyre tryin to do,good luck with your meeting and protest, the hacks that run the societies boards are generally right wing conservatives from my ecperience.
You should contact Choice Ireland for materials etc if yixxer short
A similar set of events happened in Trinity college. Students were told that they should join the Pro-life society to try and change its principles.
This is a crazy situation! I am pro-choice (though not in UCC so of no real use to you). However, if it were the societies board refusing to accept an anti-choice group my reaction would be the same - it is ridiculous!
Best of luck with your group and remember, you don't need any boards approval to start a group on campus. In my experience the loops they make you go through are more hassle than they are worth anyway, and take from the actual efficacy of any group, as they are basically viewed as a social group rather than a valid protest/action group. If it's not restricted to uni students you can also bring in members from the wider community who may have a lot of experience.
I wish you well!
