Human Rights in Mexico: Jesús Ochoa speaks

category dublin | rights, freedoms and repression | event notice author Sunday October 14, 2007 23:12author by LASC - AMNESTY IRELANDauthor email info at lasc dot ie Report this post to the editors

Amnesty Ireland and the Latin American Solidarity Centre (LASC) are organising a talk by Jesús Ochoa on the state of human rights in Mexico and the struggle for justice on the case for the murder of his sister Digna Ochoa.

Digna, a human rights lawyer, was murdered back in 2001 and it was 'officially' said it was suicide. However, the way of her death as well as numerous threats received contradict this official claim. Even a note threatening other human rights lawyers was found on her dead body. The public talk will take place on Thurday the 18th of October at 20:00 o'clock in:

The Teachers Club
36 Parnell Square
Dublin 1

Everyone's welcome!
