The CABHAIR organisation has confirmed four sponsored swimmers , so far , with two 'probables' and two 'possibles' : also confirmed is the arrival of 'Santa' , mince pies , swans in 'attack mode' , evil elves 'guarding' the gateway and a contingent of swimmers and on-lookers from far and wide.
It's looking like this year's Swim will be as successful as the thirty-eight that have gone before it , and all in aid of the thirty-two.....
Thanks,
Sharon.
CABHAIR sponsored swim, Christmas Day, 12 noon, 3rd lock, Grand Canal, Inchicore, Dublin - bring yer togs!
Hi!
Five swimmers have now been confirmed (including one from Australia!), and two 'probables'. Also, hundreds of leaflet 'packs' , each containing four printed items, have (and are) being distributed in the area on a house-to-house and pub-to-pub basis and the team delivering same are getting a great response. It's shaping up to be a lively event, regardless of the weather. The swimmers will definitely get soaked, but hopefully us on-lookers will only get damp!
Thanks,
Sharon.
Thousands of these republican leaflets have been distributed, in 'packs' of four, in the Clondalkin, Ballyfermot, Bluebell and Inchicore areas, in regards to the Cabhair Swim.
The heading on one of the leaflets caught my attention: PEACE. Is this a Peace Swim? I thought it had general aid for prisoners aims.
Hi MacDara!
'Peace' would be one of the overall objectives, yes, as would an 'Éire Nua', and I believe the republican prisoners share that opinion. Can you swim, a chara?
;-)
Thanks,
Sharon.
Hi!
The 39th consecutive Cabhair Swim went ahead yesterday almost as planned - the organisers hadn't expected there to be as much water outside the canal walls as there was inside same, we were two swimmers down and, as well as 'High Water' from nature, we had State 'Hell' at the entrance point - a few words and pics can be accessed at the 'Related Link' , below.
Thanks,
Sharon.
