Last night's violence in Epping is the desperate cry of people who have been ignored for decades, says David Shipley. Violence must be condemned. But if the state doesn?t change course, and fast, we will see many Eppings.

From vaccine passports in 2021 to 'Britcard' digital ID in 2025, it's becoming clear we need a Digital Bill of Rights to protect us from being brought under the technocratic grip of a surveillance state, says Alan Miller.

Why is the modern world so unremittingly ugly, wonders Joanna Gray. As yet another interchangeable block of beige bricks springs up in town, the contrast with the glories of the structures our ancestors built is damning.

This was the week that the climate consensus died in Parliament, says Ben Pile. In the debate that followed Ed Miliband's statement on "nature and climate" something new was heard in the House of Commons: dissent.

The Girl Against Fluoride - The Thirst Games - Wheelan's Pub - Sun 28th Sept

category dublin | environment | event notice author Monday September 22, 2014 23:25author by FluorideGirl Report this post to the editors

Fundraiser for Anti-Flouride campaign

I am really excited to have such a great line up for you. Coming all the way from the USA, Professor Paul Connett of Fluoride Action Network and the gorgeous red lipped Hot Press journalist Adrienne Murphy will share the whys, the who's and the hows about the fluoride chemicals in our drinking water.

The night will be hosted by my good friend and comedian Aidan Killian who will keep the event running smoothly and prevent any of us from over talking (which happens all the time when we start on about fluoride). I'd love to see lots of people coming who know nothing about fluoride, so if you have any one in your life that is on the fence please bring them with you and they will get the admission for free

The speakers will finish at 9.15 pm and then the fine music will begin to entertain you and raise your spirits.
Mike 'Moggi' Mannix will share a very powerful spoken word poem sure to reach your inner core,
Richie Ros singer/ song writer will delight us with a selection of his songs from his debut album 'Odyssey' and finally Kila the majestic Irish traditional band will play their powerful music which we bring us on a magical inner journey, oh what a fabulous evening we have in store.

It is my intention that this event will reach out to you to raise the much needed awareness about the fluoride issue, not just with you but also with your community. With upcoming water charges in Ireland, now more than ever we need to be educated about what really is being added to our precious water.

When: Sunday 28th September 2014
Where: Whelan's, 25 Wexford Street, Dublin 2.
Doors: 8 pm
Tickets 12 euros. Online via paypal or on the door
